Starring Natalie Portman, watch Miss Dior unveil the fearless side of love
Following Julia Robert’s ‘cold footsteps’, Miss Dior’s newest ad campaign opens with Natalie Portman seizing the day, as Janis Joplin’s husky voice screams out, ‘What I’m gonna show you baby is that a woman can be tough’. With a #itsmissactually hashtag, you can already imagine a no-nonsense Portman, a runaway bride and drama that we wouldn’t mind.
When Christian Dior first created Miss Dior, he had remarked, ‘Make me a fragrance that smells of love.’ Keeping in tune with changing times and runaway brides, the French couture brand gives the ad campaign a fierce storyline. Shot in the sun-kissed French Riviera by film-maker Anton Corbijn, Natalie Portman as Miss Dior sheds all societal conventions and as the brand says, ‘opts for freedom and races towards her destiny’. After she leaves the altar and ditches the flowy white gown for a sultry LBD, the power moment is of course, Portman in a helicopter taking control.
With the black and white to colour transition, and strong soundtrack, the film is goosebump-worthy, and makes a perfect entrance in time for V-Day. Just when our February issue − which is all about celebrating ‘you’ − hits stands, we can’t help but hail, “Carpe diem!”
