‘There Is No Shortcut To Staying Young’

Elegantly flamboyant! That’s Jade Jagger for you. With her lineage, it’s easy to decipher that creativity runs in her genes. By her own admission, she took to designing as she wanted to pursue something that she could do while raising her children. Some excerpts from the interview:

What made you decide on becoming a luxury jewellery designer?
When I started working, I was still in school. I had my kids very early and therefore decided to opt for something that I could do with the kids in tow. I started designing jewellery using a lot of gold leaf and created motifs, flowers and appliques; beautiful creations in themselves, just rediscovered by me! That seems to have been my initiation into precious metals of all kinds, especially gold since I believe that is the ultimate in itself (as far as metals go).

Tell us about your association with Elixir Ultime…
Like I mentioned, I am a huge fan of gold, and the sheen after I apply Elixir Ultime on my hair is superb! It’s as if I am somewhere far away, even if I am not. The smell of camellia is delicious, I almost want to use it on my skin. Particularly when my hair looks tired, this is a super remedy to perk it up. The brand is so much about luxury that I can identify with it wholeheartedly. For me, it’s important to work with products that I can identify with and relate to. Being a mother, I value inner and natural beauty more since I know that’s what the real thing is.

What inspired you to come up with the pattern featured on the limited edition bottle?
We played around with many iconic British symbols and in the end decided to work with the lips pattern which is part of my brand logo. It works perfectly as a symbol as lips are a strong feature throughout my family, and so it seems like a wonderful mark to leave on a Jade Jagger design project!

What is Jade Jagger’s personal style and beauty statement?
There’s always an element of ‘play’ in whatever I do; how I dress. I strongly believe one’s style needs to have a bit of one’s own self in it! So I like to be playful yet elegant and that describes my personal style. Maybe the reason for the glamorous look is the fact that I stay as natural as possible and don’t make too many chemical changes to my face or hair. I firmly believe in the fact that there is no shortcut to staying young; it has to be a result of inner happiness.

Give us a peek into your vanity dresser…
I am a ‘wash-and-go’ girl. I don’t like spending too much time in the bath or when I am getting ready. And the products that I use have to be totally natural. For my hair I use Kérastase’s Elixir Utime. For my skin, I like the La Prairie range, and then I also use the Terracotta line from Guerlain.

Being a jet-setter, how do you manage to look gorgeous while on-the-go?
Just drink lots of water, stay hydrated and stay happy. Happiness from within mirrors happiness outside, adds a glow to the face. Also I am particular about my sleep. One should be well-rested to look radiant.
