Wild Weekends With Hair Chalk

Text by Wyanet Vaz

7 colourful ways to say T-G-I-F, with a 6-step guide to using Hair Chalk

Flaunt the hipster in you with bold tie-n-dye hair strands, all through the weekend. Hair chalk gives you a temporary shade that can be washed off easily, leaving you sober on a Monday morning. Opt for intense colour with L’Oréal Professionnel’s HAIRchalk, or Toni&Guy’s chemical free Color Smash Hair Shadows. Check out the limited edition crayons from Body Shop in electric shades. Rub on some colour and paint the summer bright!

Beginner’s Guide to Hair Chalk

Step 1 Separate a strand of hair that needs to be coloured.

Step 2 Comb it with a fine-toothed brush to get rid of unwanted knots. This will ease the application process.

Step 3 The chalk will give you intense colour if you apply it right. So wet the strand of hair as well as the hair chalk. For darker hair, shades that will stand out are lime, light purple and teal blue.

Step 4 Apply the chalk on your hair in downward motion only, so that you get a smooth finish.

Step 5 Comb through it for the colour to spread out evenly.

Step 6 You could blow-dry or curl the strand to seal in the colour.
