Fendi Haute Fourrure 2016-17 Collection Decoded
To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Fendi showed a special Haute Fourrure Collection, designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Showcased at the beautiful Trevi Fountain in Rome, the models (including Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner) appeared to float down the invisible ramp placed on water.
The collection was a perfect embodiment of this house of fur and its history of marrying the hyper-luxurious with cutting-edge creativity. Lagerfeld does more with fur than was thought possible – including using it as appliques, as embroidery and to create lace, among other things. The show was titled Legends and Fairytales, and sure enough, the collection was enchanting. Entire forests were fashioned on dresses and coats, with all the glorious details of flora and fauna on them. Hundreds of hours of exquisite craftsmanship created textures that were magical, showing exactly why Fendi has a 90 year legacy as a one-of-its-kind house of fur.
