Dior Haute Couture SS 2016 Decoded
The usual grandeur of a Dior fashion show was spot on at the Musée Rodin with the futuristic set and elements that the brand has come to master. Even as the couture house currently operates without a creative director, Raf Simons influence echoed through Haute Couture Spring Summer 2016 collection. The bar jackets were reimagined in various silhouettes with deconstructed coats, florals, asymmetrical ensembles and origami-inspired techniques.
Taking charge of this collection, Dior’s studio heads, Serge Ruffiieux and Lucie Meier continued what Simons left mid-way. Making sure Dior belonged to the younger, modern world, the clothes were given an even softer touch while reworking traditional sensibilities. They paid attention to waist-emphasis, fit and flare silhouettes and short sparkly dresses.
The only missing ingredient in this well-orchestrated event, is that revolutionary touch (remember the thigh-high-boots and the voluminous gowns), that we have grown to anticipate.
