Day 2: Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2017
Ashish N Soni and Rajesh Pratap Singh
Ashish N Soni and Rajesh Pratap Singh made a case for monochrome dressing with power pant suits for both men and women. Dressy shirts and shimmery jacquard blazers upped the glam quotient at Ashish N Soni while comfort-oozing suits, layering and check shirts by Singh gave androgyny a quirky update.
Abraham and Thakore
Abraham and Thakore worked with the humble khadi and updated it with swathes of gold and silver. Typical of the designers, the collection lay somewhere between the traditional and the modern with saris draped to have thigh high slits.
Anavila
Anavila’s collection of linen saris in neutral colours was dreamy as usual. What stood out were the patchwork petticoats with pockets and frayed hems.
Payal Pratap
Crochet, colourful textures and signature threadwork on draped and pleated silhouettes made for a lively collection at Payal Pratap.
Prama by Pratima Pandey
Delicate sheer dresses and kurtas on crushed skirts in white, cream and beige with dainty florals made up Prama by Pratima Pandey’s dreamy collection.
Urvashi Kaur
Urvashi Kaur’s collection had her signature easy separates with plenty of pleats and bohemian silhouettes. Special standouts were the saris draped on trousers.
Virtues by Viral
Pleated, flared and layered dresses, saris and kurtas with whimsical touches brought kotpad, the organic handloom fabric from Odisha to life.
Gaurav Jai Gupta
This textile story was made up of handwoven fabrics, silk, cotton, zari and stainless steel. Woven metallics shimmied down the runway and we loved the sheer sari blouses, pinstriped trousers, and slit sleeves. The unusual pairings created a funky, festive collection.
