K-Pop has had a powerful influence on Korean culture. Much like an infectious sugar-rush, this trend has managed to grow, not just on us, but even on Karl Lagerfeld. We totally dig the ultra-modern fashion scene brewing in Seoul, and what sealed the deal was Chanel’s Cruise 2016 collection that took place in this sweet spot.

Taking inspiration from the East, Lagerfeld added his own ‘Chemical X’, and what actually turned up was an explosion of signature Korean bright colours, read: fuchsia pinks and lime greens. Drawing inspiration from the traditional dress of the Korean peninsula, the hanbok, we saw a catalogue of jackets with large sleeves and rounded shoulders. ‘It’s an updated Korean version of the Chanel jacket,’ explains Lagerfeld. Richly embroidered blouses, Peter Pan collars, baroque pendants, metal links and cuffs wrap up the collection. We can’t wait to own a pair of those Mary Janes in patent leather, and pair them with equally funky socks.
