Verve Wedding Diaries #2: Brides, Keep That Glow!
If you want your radiance to extend through the honeymoon and beyond, the beauty ritual you follow the morning after (the wedding) can be a deal breaker. While with the help of foundation, deep pigments, eye-shadows, mascara, lipsticks and glosses, you look picture perfect on the D-day, these can take a toll on your complexion (especially if you are not used to heavy make-up).
“I always advise the brides to apply an aloe vera face mask to calm the skin down,” says Abhilasha Singh, style director, Biguine Makeup. In case there is no event lined up, take the minimalistic route, with just a primer, highlighter and lip stain, so that the skin can breathe. If make-up is needed, apply an indulgent layer of a moisturising cream and let it settle before you move on to the foundation. Don’t let the late nights take a toll on your eyes. Green tea bags soaked in hot water, and then cooled in the fridge for 15 minutes, immediately brighten the under-eye area. “Some lukewarm diluted soapy mixture splashed on the face ten times rejuvenates it instantly.”
- For a tighter, firmer and radiant complexion, beat one egg white and apply all over the face for five minutes and then rinse it with warm water.
- To add a touch of glow to all the pre-wedding days, mix a little MAC Strobe Cream with your regular moisturiser.
- Have a basic make-up kit in place with these six essentials — skin primer, highlighter, foundation, kohl pencil, mascara and lip stain.
