Text by Tanisha Choudhury

These over-the-top pieces are heart-stopping-ly beautiful and jaw-dropping-ly expensive

1. Breguet B Crazy watch

The B Crazy wristwatch in 18-carat white gold is set with 70 carats of baguette cut, diamonds that are set to react to the slightest movement. It’s meant to move like the petals of a flower and if a diamond studded flower isn’t your dream, then what is. Priced at a whopping 1.8 million USD, this beauty by the renowned watch makers known for carrying on traditional methods of horology is definitely wishlist material.

2. Forevermark 104 carat diamond

Earlier this year, a long time Forevermark Diamantaire, Chow Tai Fook unveiled the largest Forevermark diamond in the world. It is a 104 carat, ‘D’ colour, internally flawless (DIF), round brilliant cut diamond. This stunning diamond has been set in a masterpiece called A Heritage in Bloom, a modular necklace, designed by Wallace Chan, which can be worn 27 different ways. This majestic piece of haute joaillerie is truly fit for a queen.

3. Fabergé Pearl Egg

The luxury jeweller Fabergé unveiled a new ‘imperial egg’ after nearly a century. The Fabergé Pearl Egg is set with 3,300 diamonds, 139 natural pearls, and mother of pearl and carved rock crystal set on white and yellow gold. Designed to resemble the formation of a pearl in an oyster, the egg opens to reveal a rare grey pearl from the Arabian Gulf. However, to acquire one for the Tsarina in you, you may just have to wait another century because this one has already been bought by renowned natural pearl collector, Hussain Al-Fardan.

4. Graff Diamonds Fascination watch

The Fascination watch sits perfectly at the intersection of the luxury jewellery and watches industries. Paved with 152.96 carats of the finest white diamonds, the central jewel of the piece is a rare 38.13 carat D Flawless pear shape diamond which can be placed into the piece to make it a bracelet or worn separately as a ring. Alternatively, an elegant watch face can be placed into the piece to turn it into a stunning watch with exquisite design. At 40 million USD, this piece by Graff diamonds is one of the world’s most valuable transformable jewelled timepieces.

5. Eden of Coronet guitar

Guitar maker Gibson and jeweller Coronet came together to create the world’s most valuable guitar, titled Eden of Coronet. Valued at 2 million USD, this Gibson SG is encrusted with 400 carats of diamonds and covered in 1.6 kg of 18 carat white-gold. The guitar marks a collaboration between jeweller Aaron Shum and musician/designer Mark Lui. While the guitar is rather showy and won’t quite be in tandem with the tastes of musicians or their aficionados, it definitely is one of the crazier bejewelled things unveiled this year.
