Beauty Notebook: Strobing Decoded
Never quite mastered the art of contouring? Too lazy to even try? Rejoice ladies, because the hot new beauty trend called ‘strobing’ is perfect for you. Also known as the ‘anti-contour’, some say it is essentially highlighting, with a new name.
Put away those bronzers, darker and lighter foundations and bring out the highlighter. Strobing seeks to enhance your features by using light. Highlight the areas and points of your face where light falls naturally. This includes the top of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, your temples and your cupid’s bow.
Step 1. Keep your skin as healthy and clean as possible and merge your skincare products with your make-up. Use a lightly tinted moisturiser or mix your moisturiser with your concealer to get a dewy, fresh-shine finish.
Step 2. Use the highlighter or illuminator to add shine to the higher planes of your face and get that radiantly au naturel look.
Tip: We recommend using a cream highlighter instead of a dry powdery one to make the glow look like its coming from within. Isn’t that what we’re all really after?
