Celebrity make-up artist Namrata Soni engages in a freewheeling #VerveBeautyChat on Twitter. For those who missed the action in real time, here are notes to help you fix those wedding woes

On November 1, 2014, celebrity make-up artist Namrata Soni squeezed out an hour to participate in a live #VerveBeautyChat with our followers on Twitter. Read along, as she decodes trends, tackles all bridal concerns, and leaks out some beauty secrets.

Q (Verve): Can you share trending shades for an autumn-winter wedding?

Namrata Soni: Metallic hues and dark lips are the trends for autumn-winter. Fresh and clean foundation is the way to go.

NS: I always like light makeup for weddings. Brides should remember to go for soft pink cheeks.

NS: #vervebeautychat Red lips look beautiful with any outfit (try L’Oréal’s Lincoln Rose).

Q (@Veeanet): Besides the smokey eye, which is very common today, what are other eye make-up trends one can experiment with?

NS: It’s important to remember that a winged liner is more than enough for brides who like minimalistic make-up.

NS: Sometimes brides like to experiment with eye make-up…and that’s always fun. Try out smokey eyes but in different hues.

NS: #vervebeautychat Winged liners in green, blue, gold or even a reverse smokey eye (which is under the water line) is edgy. You could try a simple smudged kohl-look to define the eyes.

Q (@divya1991): I’m wearing a shiny golden lehenga. Can you suggest a look to go with it for my make-up?

NS: #vervebeautychat Keep it simple with a lovely flick out liner in indigo blue, fake lashes, and pink gloss.

Q (Verve): What’s the best quick fix to beat a bad hair day?

NS: If you’re having a bad hair day, just quickly tie it up into a slick ponytail, bun, top knot, or a fish tail braid. For functions like the mehendi, I’d love a braided flower wreath updo.

Q (@CurrynaKapoor): Which foundation would you recommend for full coverage?

NS: Derma for full coverage. In liquids, you could use L’Oréal True Match, Chanel Vitalumiere, Giorgio Armani.

NS: Never do a facial or clean up right before the wedding. Due to stress the skin has a tendency to breakout.

Q (@anjalihb21): Which hairstyle is best suited for a round face?

NS: Waved hair or an out-turn blow dry looks amazing on round faces.

NS: For an updo, always take an extreme side parting coming over the face, and then create a look.

NS: Fish tail braids, or anything soft and Grecian looks lovely on round faces.

Q (Verve): How do you use glitter without looking like a Christmas ornament?

NS: The best way to use glitter is as a thin liner followed by 2 coats of mascara.

Q (@Sonalicious1): What is Sonam Kapoor’s best feature that helps make your job easier?

NS: Sonam has beautiful eyes.

Q (@thesleepaholic): I’m not much of a make-up addict. But could you suggest beauty essentials for a last-minute party?

NS: Tinted lip balm, mascara, kajal and BB cream. These can make your look go from simple to glam.

Q (@anjalihb21): How to make eyes look bigger? [sic]

NS: There are several ways to do that. A flick out liner makes the eyes look bigger.

NS: Use smudged liner on the top, and underline the lower lash line with a white pencil.

NS: Learn how to use an eyelash curler and it will help open up your eyes. And then add 2 coats of mascara.
