Amazon India Couture Week 2015 Decoded
Admit it! The only reason we show up at weddings is to flaunt our recent designer-wear (and to binge on finger food). This year, Amazon India Couture Week wrapped up leaving us with pin-boards of dream dresses and luring lehengas.
Manish Malhotra’s ‘Empress Story’ has been bookmarked for that regal Udaipur wedding, simply for the Bollywood-like ensembles. The rich burgundy and old rose pink gowns with three-dimensional embroidery is exactly what will land us our own Dilwale Dulhaniya moment. Anju Modi’s colour story is inspired by magical folklores and would excite any Rumi fan. The ‘Sailing Bride’ by Monisha Jaising, is apt for the those hoity-toity receptions on a fancy yacht, one that would sail across the Mediterranean. Loaded with florals and vintage handiwork, Varun Bahl and Rohit Bal are perfect choices for an extremely lavish outing. It is so elaborate that even your gold will feel out of place. For those who swear by the divine tailoring of Sabyasachi, his recent collection is demure and every bit contemporary. Gaurav Gupta’s collection strays away from the signature lehengas, and lets the ruffles, peplums and western influences govern ‘The Great Indian Wedding’.
