Designer: Archana Kochhar

Age group: 2-14 years old

Style quotient: In keeping with the theme of her womenswear collection, her latest line for kids utilises ahimsa silk, as part of the ‘Make in India’ campaign. Baby pink and light blue are used to brighten up and balance the beige silk. The dhoti saris and frilly frocks are highlights.

Where to get it: At Archana Kochhar’s Mumbai store.

Why kidswear: “There weren’t many designers catering to this section. We had done few outfits on special requests. Seeing the growing demand and the potential of growth, we decided to start a new kids line.”

Designing for children: “Whether designing for kids or adults the creation needs to fit the individual well and the person should be comfortable wearing it.”

Trendy childrenswear in India: “Today not just the parents but the kids too are so aware and in sync with the latest fashion trends. They know exactly what they want to wear to a birthday party or to a wedding, so it was high time we paid attention to their taste. Also, the changing family scenarios and  increase in disposable incomes makes this an attractive segment to be in.”
