Trends 2015, an initiative of FICCI FLO, saw people shopping to their hearts’ content, all for a charitable cause

This year’s Trends event, a charity shopping extravaganza organised by the women of FICCI FLO (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), opened in the banquet hall of the Vivanta By Taj Hotel in Mumbai, to grand numbers.

Brought together by Vinita Bimbhet, Neelam Miglani, Sucheta Shah, Ujjwala Singhania, Tanya Chhabria and Malti Jain of FICCI, the event saw many fashionistas browsing through the various stalls throughout the day. Seen on the occasion were women from different walks of life who took time off from their daily schedule to lend their support to the cause.

The chief guest for the event, designer Wendell Rodricks, lit the inaugural lamp and said a few words on women’s empowerment. Many people also signed the pledge board, leaving messages in support of the cause — the proceeds from this event will go towards education of the girl child.

Guests flocked to the various stalls, partaking of beverages and refreshments throughout the day. Shawls and dress materials from Kashmir, anarkalis, jewellery and a variety of gift products sold frequently, with shoppers eager to stock up on the best items. A section of the banquet hall also had a pop-up designer lounge featuring eminent names like Wendell Rodricks, Mandira Bedi, Sangeeta Kilachand’s Ess Kay Pret and Tamanaa Punjabi Kapoor.

FICC FLO and Verve organised a special preview for a few select guests; the sale went on till late in the evening, and the shopaholics left with several bags and happy hearts.
