Travel liberates the soul. It also helps broaden the mind through explorations. Presenting for viewers her visual diary, artist Archana Hande attempts to uncover themes of hybridity, migration and exchange. At her latest show in Mumbai, a collection of mixed-media works, narrates Hande’s travel adventures. From the Salt-Silk Route that runs through parts of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Tibet, to  Australia’s Golden Feral Trail, the series of photographs, videos, watercolours and textiles takes viewers on a trip around the world.

4 Questions with the artist, Archana Hande

  1. Artistic Motivations “Food and good sleep.”
  2. Inspirations “Landscape, nature, and thriller stories.”
  3. Concerns that find a place in your art “Hypocrites, disrespect, intolerance and judgments on others, whether related to religion, language, food, culture, colour, country or looks.”
  4. If you weren’t an artist, you would be… “a pilot or a traveller.”

I am a Landscape Painter is on display at Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai (3rd floor, Queens Mansion, G. Talwatkar Marg, Fort) until January 6, 2016.
