Hampi – the capital of medieval India’s Vijaynagar Empire – is today a land of ruins. Completely made of stone, this destroyed city has been the subject of many a photographer’s lens. And it hadn’t spared the fancy of celebrated fashion and fine art photographer, the late Prabuddha Dasgupta either. In his show The Silence of Hampi, the ace artiste captures in a series of monochrome images, his view of the deserted rock land. The stark photos make for arresting canvases, and, as the title of the exhibition suggests, reveals today’s silences of the erstwhile empire.
A limited edition book, Hampi, was launched at the preview of the exhibition.
The Silence Of Hampi is on display at Ganjam, Bengaluru ( 22/12, Vittal Mallya Road) until March 30, 2016.
