Saibal Das’ Monochromatic Lores

If there’s one thing India is known for, it’s the coexistence of a multitude of cultures, religions and philosophies. Photojournalist Saibal Das in his series Before the Birth of Time explores these varied concepts of life, death and the ‘spiritual journey to the self’, capturing sadhus, monks and devotees through his lens. The monochrome images take you from the temples of Brindavan to the mystic ethos of Varanasi – telling their own tales and offering a visual critique of the essence of faith, memory and truth.
