All You Need To Know About Jitish Kallat’s New Artwork In Austria
Is it a giant ribbon? Is it a flower? Nope, it’s Jitish Kallat’s latest sculpture, which finds a permanent place in Lower Austria. Titled Here After Here After Here, the 6 metre tall and 17 metre wide creation seems like a huge loop of traffic signs. The quirky sculpture takes inspiration from several inventions, from the mythical symbol Ouroboros and alchemical diagrams to sacred geometry.
And if you ever pass through Stockerau – 20 km north of Vienna – where the sculpture now stands, try to find the text that shows the name and distance to your home location – whether it be Mumbai or Marrakesh. The master artist mapped the circular roundabout onto a globe – symbolically connecting it to the whole world.
Here After Here After Here is located in Stockerau, Austria and was unveiled on October 11, 2015.
