Through history, we’ve seen prosperous lands and civilisations bite the dust, sometimes ending up as barren areas. Drawing on the destructed lands of Lahore that once was home to the flourishing Indus Valley Civilisation, artist Ali Kazim uses mixed media to create artworks reminiscent of these ruins. Comprising three series, Fallen Objects, Ruins, and Storm, the exhibition – presented by Jhaveri Contemporary at Asian Art in London – has the artist embed a human presence into the stark landscapes.

Ruins is on display at Rossi & Rossi, London (27 Dover Street) until November 12, 2016.
