Life in the Art Lane

It’s funny how people who own DSLRs are self-proclaimed photographers. And the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is when they take out the bug guns (think cannons). Yup, the Canons and Nikons with telescopic adjustable lenses gave the humble phone camera the middle finger.

But, rightly so. Artworks like these need to be captured in high definition. Murder of the Ambassador, Bollywood in pop art, the suspiciously huge crow and our own version of the Parisian Love Locks compel you to zoom in, literally and figuratively speaking. My favorites were Krsna Mehta’s Vertical Mayhem and the web of time. More than the black horse, it’s the Ambassador that defines the festival today, and I hope that changes next year.

What really stood out, is that KGAF didn’t take art to people, but rather, people to art.

On the other side, read a performer’s diary on the agony and ecstasy of performing at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival.
