Lose yourself in the world of sculptures and textile art at a joint show in New Delhi

Two artists, two countries, and a great show. Gallery Ske in New Delhi has on display works by an Indian and a Pakistani-based artist, each of whose works are a comment on society and culture.

In Sakshi Gupta’s At the still point of the turning world, she explores ‘the experience of productivity in active stillness’. The display includes a series of sculptures that convey journeys of the mind through their play of form.

Gardening the Archive, a series of prints and ‘textile interventions’ by Lahore-based British artist David Alesworth, brings to life narratives of history and politics through landscape creations on carpets. This interesting show of artworks presents a unique way of documenting histories and cultures.

Artist Profiles

Sakshi Gupta The artist, who lives and works in Delhi, draws heavily from her personal experiences to create her artworks. She has been a recipient of the Illy Sustain Award (2011) and the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship (2012).

David Alesworth British-born and Lahore-based artist Alesworth has exhibited widely, both within his country and internationally. His works are part of several public and private collections, and he currently teaches art at various Lahore institutions.

The exhibition is on display at Gallery Ske, New Delhi (Shivam House, 14-F Middle Circle, Connaught Place) until May 14, 2015.
