What’s Happening at India’s First Electric Daisy Carnival?

Text by Natasha Sahjwani

Robot-servers, enchanting performers and a stellar line-up….

For lovers of dance, there is never a shortage of gigs in the city. But as the year draws to a close, the increasingly popular Electric Daisy Carnival makes its debut in India. To be held at New Delhi’s Buddh International Circuit, it promises a stellar line-up of acclaimed international headliners alongside the biggest names in the Indian music scene. Heralded as the ‘American Ibiza’, EDC’s India edition aims at creating a distinct passion for art and discovery just like its worldwide versions.

If the Delhi smog doesn’t wear you down, here’s what you can expect at the musical extravaganza…

1. Banger Line-up

For its first edition in the country, the organisers haven’t held back. Bringing in international names such as Afrojack, Alesso, Steve Aoki and Markus Schulz, we’re also excited to see a mix of  Nucleya, Lost Stories, Sequ3l, Blot! and Dualist Inquiry amongst others.

Listen to our playlist of songs that we can’t wait to hear at the festival:

2. Stage Serenade

If the line-up doesn’t impress you, the three massive stages definitely will. EDC takes on a new level of extravagance with their grand podiums: ‘kinecticFIELD’ (the grand scenic stage), ‘circuitGROUNDS’ (for lovers of Trance) and ‘neonGardens’ (for deep house and electro junkies).

3. Starry nights

Bridging the gap between nature and technology, the festival promises unique art installations that are sure to grab eyeballs. Aimed at getting people to discover newer mediums of art, the interactive visuals are sure to ignite your thoughts (or your selfie sticks!).

4. Enchanting troupers

While you move from one gig to another, don’t miss the ‘Fundakfield Freaks’ around you. They are actually a bunch of performers such as dancers, stilt walkers, aerialists, circus performers and other whimsical characters, all dressed in OTT costumes.

5.  Mr. Robot

Your mother always warned you about taking drinks from a stranger. But nothing should stop you from hanging out with this endearing Budweiser-sharing robot. Say hello to India’s first mechanical alcohol server, after all, that’s exactly how we would like to take our Bud.

6. What’s brewing?

If you can hitch a VIP pass for the fest, then you’re in for a treat. Budweiser has created a special ‘Brew District’ for their distinguished guests that give you access to unique tenting experiences, a Kelvin Cheung curated ‘Buds and Burgers’ party and access to a fun-filled picnic-style Sunday brunch.
