Art Hopping at Hermès

Everything you want to know about the history of Hermès and the horse… through breathtaking artefacts

If you ever have to take a Hermès pop quiz, the first thing you should know is that Hermès was founded as a harness-maker. And, the second valuable nugget of information is that its first client was a horse!

Paying homage to this noble animal, Philippe Dumas (artist and member of the fifth generation of the Hermès family), curated the Hermès Horse Exhibition that depicts a playful version of the horse, moving between historic treasures and contemporary musings. The exhibition first showcased at the opening of the Hermès Maison in Shanghai. The unique show has travelled to our city, and should be on your watch list. We particularly love how the unique pieces drawn from the private Émile Hermès Collection are cleverly juxtaposed with items from Indian origin.

This exhibition is on display till November 30th, 2015 at the Hermès Mumbai store.
