Some artists are inspired by their nations and work within their boundaries, and some artists create art that is not representative of their culture or nationalities. Falling in the latter are pieces of art created by eleven artists for a group show, We Are Not Your Native Informers!
The artists whose creations are featured in the show, have works that are representative of their own styles, but not constricted by any borders. As the gallery’s press note says, ‘the artworks propose their practices not offering the very pleasure that distance allows even though the works arise from questions of inequality, identities and representation.’
On display are drawings, installations, sculptures and works in mixed media by various artists including Prabhakar Pachpute, Nikhil Raunak, Justin Ponmany, Rupali Patil, Poonam Jain and Yogesh Barve, among others.
We Are Not Your Native Informers! is on display at Clark House Initiative, Mumbai (8, Nathalal Parekh Marg, Old Wodehouse Road) until February 14, 2015.
