Colour, texture, composition – all these contribute to making a two dimensional photograph appear lifelike, or in 3D. But what if there were a fourth? In a new exhibition, four Indian photographers capture through their images this forth dimension – the element of time. Amit Sharma, Idris Ahmed, Sanjay Das and Shabir Hussain Santosh have created frames that ‘explore the significance of the flow of time through the attendant stillness of their images’. Working with light, shadows and emotion, the artistes take viewers on a surreal journey through their photographs.

Fourth Dimension is on display at Shridharani Gallery, New Delhi (Triveni Kala Sangam, Connaught Place, Delhi NCR) until May 2, 2016
