At first glance, you’d think they’re African war masks or figurines from ancient times. And then you look again, and discover the mastery of Adil Writer and Laxma Goud. A new exhibition in Mumbai, In Collaboration, has the two combine their talents to create clay artworks. Beautiful amalgams of design, shape and texture, the shields, masks, treasure boxes, books, and plates are riots of colour and creation. ‘The symbiotic partnership, the exchange of ideas and energy, has led to the emergence of new work by both the artists,’ says ceramics artist Arti Vir. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
In Collaboration is on display at Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai (Tanna House, Ground Floor, 11/A Nathalal Parekh Marg, Colaba) until May 20, 2016
