There’s nothing like viewing the world through a photographer’s lens. Kolkata-based artist Ronny Sen, who was part of an art residency in Poland last winter, captured images of Gdańsk, the city where he stayed.  The series, New World Chronicles of an Old World Colour, presented by The Polish Institute in New Delhi, is an ‘exploration of melancholia’ and makes for a captivating view.

Inspired by Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colors Trilogy, Sen shot regular, mundane things – roads, buildings, people – in an attempt to capture their individual colours. ‘While in Gdańsk, I often thought of how it shared with my home city and state the many burdens of a communist past. This serendipitous connection became the locus of my attempts to connect to a place I was otherwise a stranger to,’ says the Assam-born photographer about his work. The exhibition is a partner event of the Delhi Photo Festival 2015.

New World Chronicles of an Old World Colour is on display at Gallery Latitude 28, New Delhi (F 208 G/F Lado Sarai) until November 8, 2015.
