Puncturing In A Message

Spanish artist Amparo Sard, known for her unique style and her reflection on the anguish of the human race, shows in Mumbai this month

Iconic Spanish artist Amparo Sard often uses a fine needle to perforate the paper and create reflections of human nature. At other times, she employs a plexiglass to communicate her analysis of human behaviour and its very existence. Through her work and the diverse mediums that she uses, she has invented a unique typography to communicate her themes. Sard’s work is an intimate reflection on humans, and their anguish and doubts. She often dabbles with the uncertainty with which the human race exists – taking a look at their identity in the modern world and the painful bewilderment that humans often experience.

Her canvases and installations have found pride of place in New York’s prominent art spaces – MoMa, Guggenheim, West Collection (Chelsea Contemporary art Museum), to name a few. This November, she will debut in India with a solo show that will present a fascinating selection from her oeuvre.

Amparo Sard’s debut in India will showcase at Galerie Isa, Mumbai from November 18, 2014 to January 17, 2015.
