Check out the best of Indian artistic minds through their significant works at A Visual History of Modern Art

If you missed out on the India Art Fair which took place in January in New Delhi, you can view its major works in Mumbai, for A Visual History of Modern Art brings to the city major highlights of the India Art Fair that showcased close to 1,000 artworks.

The show at the Delhi Art Gallery in Kala Ghoda promises to be a historical, visual narrative of Indian art. It will include works of pre-modernism, art from Bengal, realism, Kalighat paintings, works by the progressives, modernism and tantra art and sculpture.

On show are works by M F Husain, F N Souza, Raja Ravi Varma, Rabindranath Tagore, K H Ara, Akbar Padamsee, Jamini Roy and many more celebrated artists. On the selection that will be showcased in Mumbai, Kishore Singh, head of exhibitions and publications, Delhi Art Gallery says, “No exhibition of such depth has been attempted before, highlighting different periods, styles, art movements and collectives, mediums, art centres and range.”

A Visual History of Indian Modern Art is on display at Delhi Art Gallery, Mumbai. The show will run until March 31, 2015.
