Art For An Anniversary

Text by Huzan Tata

For their 17th anniversary Jamaat art gallery presents an exhibition of traditional Indian arts

India is a land of creation. From Kashmir’s woodworks to Tanjore paintings down South, various forms of art have evolved through the centuries. To celebrate its 17th anniversary, Jamaat art gallery in Mumbai presents an exhibition of such traditional arts. Featuring Gadhwakam sculptures by late Jaidev Baghel, Mithila paintings on handmade paper by the late Satya Narayan and Moti Lal Karn, Vankat Raman Shyam’s Gond artworks, and Kalamkari paintings on cloth and canvas by master craftsman J. Niranjan Chetty, the show brings to viewers a real celebration of Indian handiworks.

The exhibition is on display at Jamaat art gallery, Mumbai until February 28, 2016
